    Sorry, but how can this be a nomination for design of the year? The company Dainese began developing airbag collars for motorbike riders years and years ago - and what, by this company stealing the idea and making it a fashion item, it gets a nomination in the UK’s Designs of the Year? The selection committee really needs to take a good hard look at itself.

    @Shawn
    This is a ‘Design’ of the year competition, not ‘Invention’ of the year.
    Last year Plumen didn’t invent the energy saving lightbulb - they came up with a great new design, and so won the award.

    Think about it.

    @ Bob.
    at first time I saw this,
    thought very like you.
    but you have to see the real process.

    in usual time, it doesn’t visible like first picture.
    but when a car hit the person, it appears like an airbag.
    and visible like second picture.
    “invisible” doesn’t mean transparent.
