Nominated for Design of the Year Fashion Award 2011
Not the first 3d printed shoe, nor the most interesting one. Sjors Bergmans has produced one years ago and Marloes Ten Bohmer has released an aesthetically pleasing one. http://www.dezeen.com/2010/12/13/rapidprototypedshoe-by-marloes-ten-bhomer/
They are the first one’s put into a closed loop system. The 3D printing is a part of a bigger design: the system. The concept is about collaboration between buyer, store and factory to create a cradle to cradle situation. None of the others have this sustainable agenda. It is one step towards bringing awareness to the material’s worth. So, the shoes are not just about the technology, it is about being responsible for what you put out on the market.
Oh. “One step…” Its a *joke*, right?
